Hair: black and fades to purple (naturally black, but turned purple at the ends after she was attacked and as she shares aether with Ophelia), she often chops it off short for practicality. Sometimes she will grow it out and put it in a high ponytail or shape it into waves.
eyes: purple (naturally) and have a starry quality to them, it almost looks like you can see galaxies in them. After ascending, they glow and appear exactly as Theia's in the past.
Started out as a samurai when working as an assassin in Kugane in her younger years. She carries one knife with her that bears the insignia that became her own and her main symbol when she was part of the "family" in Kugane
Her skin is covered with freckles. They seem to be inherited from her mother, who was also freckled.
Her left arm is covered in scar tissue and glows purple. It often pains her as it is filled with aether from the void. This is from her arm being turned into a faux voidsent arm due to exposure to being inside a void portal when she was young.
Magenta marbled scales are a sign of her voidsent combination with Ophelia
Selene always wears rings on her hands connected to bracelets, her ring of eternal bonding, the azem crystal on a necklace, and an earring identical to Emet-Selch's that was a gift, sometimes she will adorn her horns with gold rings and chains hanging down carrying crystals that glow
She will also often wear gloves or clawed finger jewelry
Tattoo: the Emet-Selch glyph can be found on her lower stomach, do not ask her how that got there...it is not a story she is apt to share with just anyone.

story

Selene was born on the Azim Steppe, but left as a teenager and moved to Kugane. Selene is self-preserving as she had to learn to be ruthless to survive. She bases her morality and decisions in life based on whether it will benefit her or fits her personal sense of justice, and may not always look morally right to an outsider. Selene is logical to a fault, but does work to understand the feelings and logic of others. As the warrior of light, she has found new solace in helping others, even if she would like to escape duty and contracts and live for herself.Selene encountered her reaper avatar, the thirteenth shard of Azem, as a young child when she discovered a void portal. This event also led to her being an outcast and growing unusual purple marbled scales. She did not grow to understand how to work with her avatar and be a Reaper until after the events of Stormblood and before going to the first. Before this she had trained as a Samurai when living in Kugane and then a Dragoon while living in Ishgard.Currently, Selene lives in Ishgard where she can be close to some of her dear friends and adopted family, such as Aymeric and the Fortemps, and she can enjoy her life with her soulbonded partner and their best friend who have returned to her to live again, for themselves rather than duty this time.

Relationship with Emet-Selch

During the early events of Shadowbringers, Selene met a mysterious garlean man in Eulmore who she began a budding relationship with. She was not sure about him, as he would not share that many details about him, but despite that she felt familiarity and comfort in his presence almost instinctively. From time to time he would find her when she was alone and they would share a chat. When he pulled her from the lake in Il Mheg, they shared a kiss on the bank before he disappeared. Later she came to learn that this man was Emet-Selch, an ascian who was also the former emperor of Garlemald. She felt betrayed and used, but also confused about her feelings towards him. As being around him forced more of the memories she had dreamed about as a child to become clearer, she realized that he was important to her past self. Ultimately, after he rescued Y'shtola and explained the ascians purpose in the rejoinings, they began a relationship in earnest. After the events of Shadowbringers, Selene has most of the memories of Persephone, the former Azem, returned to her and remembers her and Hades' time together when the world was unsundered. After the Seat of Sacrifice, Emet-Selch is able to join his consciousness from the aetherial sea to the shoebill familiar that follows Selene. He watches her throughout the events of Endwalker, and eventually stays at the end of Ultima Thule to be with her and to live a life free of his former duty.

Voidtouched

While out on one of her morning training sessions, Selene encountered a void portal. Being ever curious, she touched the portal and drew the thirteenth shard of Azem from the void to her unintentionally along with other violent voidsent. Her shard, Ophelia, saved her from the savage attack that ensued and combined in part with her and formed a contract. After combining with this part of her soul, Selene's body was changed permanently, including her purple marbled scales and the strange scarred and glowing arm that pains her from time to time. She has had what others consider reaper powers most of her life because of this, as her contract with Ophelia includes making sure she gets regular feedings of aether. Selene finally trained as a reaper later after the events of Stormblood and before traveling to the First. She is said to be on a grandmaster's level of training as a reaper as she and her voidsent's relationship ascends that of a regular reaper avatar contract.Due to her aether being permanently altered and dark aspected, Selene is unable to use healing magic. She cannot access white magic in general.

Banishment

Selene was exiled from the Oronir tribe as a young teenager. She was believed to be cursed after she was attacked by voidsent and forever changed. Many say that they could see a shadow cast over her or hear her talking to herself. Some even said they could hear a "demonic" like voice answering her in hushed tones. Finally, after having been found to be treating with the Dotharl to find out more about reincarnation, she confessed that she believed that they were right in part, and that she had visions of a past self of hers that was neither Dotharl, nor Oronir, not even a Xaela. She was cast out from the tribe with nowhere to go and no one with her except her voidsent partner, Ophelia Kenos.

Assassin of Kugane

Selene does not speak often of her time in Kugane in her teenage years, as they were traumatic for her. After being attacked by the Odiyama clan one night and killing all of assailants save one, she was recognized for her tenacity and skill, captured and made to serve the family as an assassin in exchange for somewhere to live, clothing, and food. She accepted as she had almost starved to death in the alleyway before she was attacked, and her voidsent Ophelia felt it would be a way for her to continue to feed while not having to draw aether from Selene herself. She served many years and built up a reputation, even earning her own insignia on her personalized weapons. She was known to the Sekisegumi as the Dragon of Kugane- feared and unknown. After the leader of the Odiyama clan attacked her, and was subsequently killed by Ophelia, Selene found herself in need to escape. With the help of those she worked with at her restaurant, she was able to get ferry to Eorzea.

Self-taught Culinarian

Selene is a talented chef, but a terrible baker. She worked at a local eatery in the Kogane Dori, and her dishes became famous for being traditional Steppe food infused with other flavors from Doma or Hingashi. Her recipes are her own, and she's very protective of their secrets.
